Lazy carpet laying: Move furniture to one side of the room, install carpet in other side, move furniture over the roll (tricky) onto the new carpet.

The furniture rollers are useful, but with uneven floor it's best to use only three of the four, else one pops out when you hit a low spot :)

Not going to bother with skirting board. Don't want to pull out the existing and make a mess and don't want to put a second layer either. Mostly hidden by curtains anyways.

The carpet is in the living room. That counts, right?

Actually it turns out we'd never moved the crappy TV table that was in that corner and there was still lots of mouse poop under it. The old man was throwing poison everywhere but the mice ran wild anyways. That took some time cleaning up.

This is the nicest room we have. The log walls are plastered with clay mortar, which somehow isn't cracking like mad, so the wood must be moving less than people claim.

Oof, long day. But, amongst many other tasks, we got a big piece of cheapo carpet to throw down on the living room floor so the cold air stops seeping up between the floorboards.

Of course buying the carpet is the easy part, clearing out the entire room to lay it is the "fun" part.

It's from a 4m wide roll (we hoped for 2m wide), so there's no doing it one strip at a time either :)
