Kiki Smith, Tattoo Print, 1995. Smith’s work has been a lifelong influence on my visual work, jewellery design as well as my writing. I love this print of tattoo ‘flash’—with all its vulvamorphia and decorative motifs. The work reflects girlhood, growing up as a young woman in our time, when the most important thing is to listen to your inner self and live a life that is your own without trying to fulfill the ideas and guidelines of society and various political/extremist/religious movements/groups about what life "should really be like and what a woman's role is in society", I think.

As an aging woman, I say calmly, be and live exactly as you want. If you want to change something, do it. If you still gather courage, strengthen yourself in peace. If everything is fine just like this, you have already come a long way.

Everything has its time and place, I think. And even though the world is now in transition, I believe that the voice of reason, justice and truth will win, because it has the most supporters in the world. ✌️🎀

My collage series of vulvas are very different and yet they have something in common. All of them are made of pictures of nature. Mountains, corals, floods, desserts.. human pollution in water, wild weather. The climate crisis is extreme, because humans (billionaires, corporations, governments) don’t know how to be nature. They are extremely greedy and inhumane. They don’t have respect for nature.

My vulvas are about resisting, about eco feminism and understanding that we are nature. Understanding that we as humans, need to connect with this fact. We need to connect with the trees, the mountains, the ocean, the corals. We are one with this planet.

I will share some of my favourite collages from this series, which I started in 2022. And I’m sure I’ll continue this project and create more collage vulvas.

Noch bis Anfang 2025 zeigt das OK in Linz die erste europäische Ausstellung von Nadya Tolokonnikova, Künstlerin und Gründerin von Pussy Riot. Die Schau „Rage“ thematisiert Widerstand, Repression und Patriarchat und präsentiert Installationen, Performances und Objekte, darunter das Werk „Putin’s Ashes“. Eine überdimensionale Klinge symbolisiert die prekäre Lage von Künstler*innen in Russland.

Eine Videoprojektion zeigt zwölf Frauen in schwarzen Outfits und roten Strumpfmasken, die vor einem brennenden Porträt von Wladimir Putin stehen. Die Szene spielt in einer kargen Wüstenlandschaft und erinnert an einen symbolischen Akt des Protests.
Ein rotes Gemälde zeigt ein stilisiertes Gesicht mit geschlossenen Augen und einem Tropfen, der wie eine Träne aussieht. Rund um das Gesicht sind kyrillische Schriftzeichen in einem Kreis angeordnet.

На стене висит разбитое на шесть крупных фрагментов квадратное зеркало. Из-под одного из осколков свешиваются длинные тёмные прямые волосы, которые выходят за пространство зеркала и по длине где-то в полтора раза длиннее стороны зеркального квадрата. Зеркало снято так (или фотография обработана так), что в зеркале ничего не отражается. В пояснениях к работе не говорится, настоящие ли это человеческие волосы или искусственные. Фотография почти бесцветна. // On the wall hangs a square mirror broken into six large fragments. Long dark straight hair hangs from under one of the fragments, extending beyond the space of the mirror and about one and a half times longer than the side of the mirror square. The mirror is photographed in such a way (or the photograph is processed in such a way) that nothing is reflected in the mirror.
