We wanted to do a few hours hike spontaneously, but that is easier said than done. For most hikes a guide is needed (probably just to generate jobs), which you need to arrange in advance.
We tried to find a hike in Chiang Dao National Park (before the security check point), but there is not really information available like maps etc. One source got us on our way: @openstreetmap! Forget the googles and their bandit colleagues, the OSM community came through once again.
We hiked a super steep dusty path to a view point. With the current air pollution conditions the views are mediocre at best. It was nice though to see how a trail looks like over here.
It was also the first hike where our descent took longer than the ascent. Super slippery with all the dust and leaves. When it is wet, this trail is undoable. Our hiking boots have been recoloured from gray to trendy red-brown-dust.
