Would really love to see Home Assistant/Nabu Casa come out with more hardware in addition to their smart home hubs (even better if it is open source hardware). Maybe a small voice assistant speaker?
I've been saying for the longest time that @homeassistant and @PINE64 really need to collaborate on a #FOSS #VoiceAssistant #smartSpeaker.
I mean one prefers to focus on software with a strong community, the other prefers to focus on hardware with community provided software. Meanwhile we have the megacorps shifting funding from smartspeakers to AI.
It just seems like a no-brainer (not saying easy!) to me.
...aaaaand the VERY NEXT DAY @PINE64 posts this:

Bravo, Pine people! Bravo! Now I just hope you'll work closely with the @homeassistant people to integrate the two closely. If it does and ends up with more #PineTime level development than #PineCube, then I'm already planning on buying at least 5.
I just hope that this time they add some padding to the retail price and use that extra to help fund necessary development.
@Blort Oh that's sooooo cool! I can't wait.
But yeah, I really wish some more development was put into the PineCube... An open source security camera has so much potential.
I have one myself, but haven't managed to figure out how to get it up, running and connected to Home Assistant. The process looked rather alpha and complicated.
