So, I look at a newly installed eero mesh system and see there is an available update scheduled for 2AM. The next day, no change, the new software is still available and scheduled for 2AM. Turns out, eero owners may have to wait a few weeks for their devices to self-update with available bug fixes. Manual updates are possible though.

A few hours of fiddling and my Omada network is up and running. It’s still not configured properly (I really need to learn about VLANs), but the SPEED difference compared to my eero router is remarkable! Websites load MUCH faster now on all of my devices - some nearly instantly.

Just a few hours away from switching to my new TP-Link Omada router and using the eero mesh system as WAPs.

The eero system is nice, but they lock away features behind subscription fees.

Yes, Omada is a lot more complicated to configure, but it gives me the control that I so desperately crave, plus it’s only $65!

Did I mention that it also works with Home Assistant?

And how the hell did I accumulate 84 devices on my home LAN?

Can anyone in the UK recommend a #wifi #router (for a fibre connection) with good #privacy?

I've got #eero but hate that I need to use an android app to access it; have to have a "subscription" to eero; erro are #amazon yuk; they collect MAC addresses; know who's in and who's out etc.

I don't want to subscribe to a service to do local routing! I want local web interface for config, not an app. 38 pages(!) of complaints from #tplink users say I'm not alone...

Eero: It’s data privacy day!

Me: You’re owned by one of the biggest and most evil companies in the world. I’m not reading your email trying to deflect the responsibility for data privacy back on me, the person whose data privacy is at stake every time someone has a Ring camera pointed at a road I travel down.

For weeks I’ve tried to get an Eve Outdoor Cam to work on my #Unifi network. 2.4gHz-only AP, several resets, changed tons of options, read lots of websites, no dice.

Yesterday I connected an old #Eero AP to the network, gave it the same name/password as the Unifi WiFi, put it in 2.4gHz-only mode and 💥boom💥 connected.

Took the Eero down, and the Eve Cam stays connected to the Unifi network, no problem.

I have no idea what’s going on, but at least the camera is working now.

Anyone here run an #eero #mesh network at home? Anyone running into stability issues? For the past week or two I’ve suddenly had to reboot the entire network every 24-48 hours when devices refuse to connect to the WiFi.

It started happening shortly before, and has continued since, the latest upgrade to 7.0 of the eero software.

Running 3x eero 5 Pros.
