Kitchen sink corner metal mesh “compost caddy” basket #三角コーナー #sankakukōnā
At most weekly:

Tonight's dinner is some marked down marinated pork shoulder from Aldi, brown rice in the rice cooker and some steamed veg.
Putting the #RiceCooker to use again
Leftover rice from last night’s chicken stir fry and some pork loin from the day before
Add a can of black beans and a can of chopped tomatoes plus spices
Brings the mixture to a nice simmer and breakfast is ready!
Trying a rice cooker experiment
Chopped up an apple and am running a cycle with one cup of water, just the amount I need for 1/2 cup oats
Once the apples get soft I’ll add the oats and start another cycle
Got some honey too!
Edit: worked great!
Picked up some marked down pork mince at Woolies before. So I think it's time to try this in the rice cooker

Sounds yummy.
Tonight's dinner is thinly sliced beef that's been marinating in soy/oyster sauce with some garlic and brown sugar, with onions and corn and carrot, all shoved in my beloved rice cooker. The magical machine that makes me dinner.
The first #ricecooker experience was excellent.
No brown or burned #rice and consistency was just how I like it.
Holding the rice warm for almost an hour also caused no burning or dryness.
So far very happy with the purchase.
The thing is also near silent while cooking compared to a microwave or stovetop and produces way less steam.
Cool short report of how we came to have automatic rice (and other grain) cookers. I use an automatic grain cooker regularly now — very convenient.
My basic #tech brain has melted in this heat. If I'd buy a #RiceCooker imported from #Taiwan with Taiwanese specifications, what to look out for in a convertor? I don't mind unplugging after use. The power cable has its own plug and can be swapped out.

Man, I had really been sleeping on rice cookers. We’ve only had ours for about two weeks now but I’m already a big fan and this is coming from someone who dislikes kitchen gadgets.
S-tier kitchen appliance; up there with a proper burr coffee grinder.
Trying to make #bulgur in an electric #ricecooker. Can’t think of a reason why it shouldn’t work.
Attempting to make chili in my #RiceCooker
Yes, I am weird.
We bought a (used) rice cooker, and it's such a game changer. The texture is PERFECT! My autism is so happy, I'm having rice and tofu for breakfast.
(I strongly encourage not having a thousand different useless kitchen appliances and over-consuming, we pondered this buy for months. We ended up buying this because the texture was really hard to get right for us, and as autistics, the texture is very important)
Rice People!!
Why do you soak your rice before cooking?
I rinse my rice but don't soak it before cooking in my rice cooker.
You guys, look at my new rice cooker isn't it cute?! It is done in a retro style. It makes me happy to look at it. I really wish more companies still made kitchen appliances that are pretty and nice to look at.
Curvy, mint green refrigerators. Crock pots with little flowers or vegetables painted on them. I read somewhere that it changed when companies started marketing kitchen appliances to men. And I'm not at all convinced it's actually what men want, either.
