En lien avec mon pouet précédent (framapiaf.org/@Bristow_69/1142), voilà que #Microsoft interdit la création d'un compte local sur #Win11.

Heureusement, y a toujours une nouvelle solution mais c'est parfait, continue comme cela Microsoft👌🏻

Et ce n'est pas moi qui le dit :

Frage zu #proxmox und #win11

Ich möchte einen Mini-PC als VM-Server einsetzen. Eine der VMs soll mit Windows 11 Pro laufen.
Nun gibt es ja zig Mini-PCs mit ausreichender Leistung und mit Windows-Lizenz - die sich im UEFI befinden sollte ...

Kann ich nun Proxmox VE auf dem Host installieren und die Win11-Lizenz im UEFI an die VM durchreichen? Bzw erkennt Win11 dann die Hardware?
Hat da jemand Erfahrungen mit?

Sehr spaßig: Da findet man ein #AppImage des #BambuStudio welches unter #openSUSE auch läuft und stellt dann fest, dass es unter den einzurichtenden Druckern in der Auswahl keinen einzigen BambuLab-Drucker gibt. 🤷‍♂️
Wieder einmal eine weitere Hürde, warum #Linux auf dem #Desktop keinen Spaß macht, wenn man mehr als Office, Mail und Internet nutzen möchte:
Es verlangt einem, wenn es überhaupt funktioniert, jede Menge Arbeit beim Konfigurieren und Einrichten ab.
Drucke jetzt wieder unter #Win11.

... gut! Aber spätestens seit #Win8 (habe ich übersprungen) ist das mE nur noch 💩! Andauernd lande ich in einem anderen Fenster, weil die mehr oder weniger in einander übergehen, kaum zB Outlook Fenster vom Egde Kontrast mäßig unterscheidbar sind. 🤬 Und jetzt bei #Win11 kann ich noch nicht ma die Taskleiste vergrößern! 🤬👿
IdR habe ich 3 Zeilen Taskleiste belegt, weil ich das Gruppieren unübersichtlich finde! 🤷🏼‍♂️
So bleiben #Microsoft und ich nicht mehr lange Freunde. 😱🤬

I really think Linux Foundation or a collaboration between distros and DEs should create some website and materials to try and capture the attention of people who don't like Win 11 or just don't want to throw away a perfectly fine PC and buy a new one – and try and help them migrate to Linux

Rising tide lifts all boats, the competition between players should be set aside for the goal of helping as many as possible get to Linux now with EOL for Win10. A unique opportunity!

Also wenn ich Nachrichten lese, scheint mir das #Problem, bei dem ich #fedihelp brauche, ja sehr klein, aber seit kurzem funktioniert die #Beleuchtung vom #Typecover an meinem #surface9 mit #Win11 nicht mehr. Tippen und Scrollen geht, ebenso die LED der FN-Taste.

Könnte es an einem Update liegen oder an einer zu strengen Einstellung von #w10privacy?

Neustart und Deinstallation der Tastatur haben nichts bewirkt.

Erhellende Ideen, die Licht ins Dunkel bringen, würden mich Strahlen lassen.

In case anyone is reading and trying to figure out how to remove Microsoft Edge from a fully updated Windows 11 install:

The guide listed below still works, but only once you downgrade Edge.

You can downgrade using winget. I used UniGetUI, which uses winget on the backend as well as other sources.

The version I tried is 124.0.2478.97. Going too far back gives an error.

After that you need to execute this tool from an elevated command line prompt:

./vivetool /enable /id:44353396

Reboot.

After that just add your country to the list of countries in the European Economic Area and mark them as eligible for uninstall. (See guide below, or the summary)

The file you want to edit is Windows\System32\IntegratedServicesRegionPolicySet.json.

- You need to give yourself permission to edit the file:
File properties > Security > Advanced > Change (link next to the owner at the top)

- Here, type Administrators and hit the button on the right of the text field, click Accept.

- Select Administrators from the list and click edit to give yourself write access

- Click accept on all windows to apply changes.

In the example above, I flipped disabled to enabled and snuck Chile (CL) onto the list of eligible countries.

Your country code is set at install time.

You can find it by opening regedit (press Win+R and type regedit) and going to the key HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\International\Geo\Name. That's the country you're supposed to add to the json file on the main post.

You might need to restart. Now you can uninstall Edge from the settings. Enjoy, until Microsoft fixes it anyway!

@fotomenschen Ich war bis Dez24 in einer ähnlichen Situation: LR, PS,..., ~ 200.000 Fotos, ständiges Genöle von M$, dass mein PC nicht für #Win11 taugt. Jetzt Tabula rasa: MacBook geholt, alten PC mit #Debian bestückt (Archiv-Server). Im Moment bin ich happy. Massiv (!) bessere Performance, ich bin nun mobil, PC läuft wieder flott weil befreit von Defender & Co und ein OS weniger in meinem Leben.
(Contras: Geldbeutel verwundet, Apple ist auch nicht die Heilsarmee.)

Mensch, wieso ist die Anzeige unter Windows 10 und 11 so grottenschlecht? Es sind ständig einzelne Fenster unscharf, oftmals sind das windowseigene Elemente wie Eigenschaften-Kästchen. Oder MS Office-Fenster. Oder Systemsteuerung (unter Win10) usw. oftmals sind die Elemente auf einem Bildschirm scharf und auf dem anderen verschwommen. So einen Quatsch hatte ich unter Win7 und Win8 nie.
Und die Schrift sieht unter Win11 auch besch...en aus.
Ich habe mir Linux nur als Zweitsystem zum Spaß installiert, aber ich werde wohl darüber wechseln, damit mir die Augen nicht mehr so wehtun.
Bin ich der Einzige, dem es so geht?
