OK OK OK OK OK OK OK... I've been trying #riverwm a little more seriously over the last few days and... you know what? It's pretty damn good.
If my opinion means anything to anyone, #river is becoming a pretty decent bspwm stand-in for wayland I think.
Still alpha, a way to go yet, but the plans for v0.3.0 are looking good (rules, one-shots, ssd/csd, ... code move to Codeberg).
It may actually be the WM that makes me stop moaning about #Wayland so much, which is quite a statement coming from me!

(Disclaimer: I still, obviously, adore bspwm and have no plans on ditching it any time soon, but I like to have fallbacks/future alternatives planned for in advance!)

I've used a variety of traditional desktop environments ever since I started using Linux, but I've never really had a reason to try any tiling window managers.

Now that Wayland is here, I am really interested in trying out either Hyprland or Sway. I'd really like to know what you all prefer and why.

@e33io Good video by @thelinuxcast about #TilingWindowManagers. I’ve been thinking about trying one out, & Matt’s demonstration certainly helped. His use of workspaces instead of windows is similar to what I’ve been trying out in GNOME, just with keyboard shortcuts instead of trackpad gestures… 🤔

Think I might have to throw #Manjaro #i3wm on a spare SSD and give it a whirl.

#macOS used to be the #DarkSide. Then it was #Linux. Now I think TWMs might be the TRUE “dark side.”
